7/8 Sports
Seventh- and eighth-grade students at St. Michael Catholic School are eligible to participate in sports through St. Michael-Albertville (STMA) Schools. See information on individual sports and registration at the bottom of this page.
STMCS Supervision and Transportation Details
Due to the time difference between when our school gets out and when practice begins, we provide after school supervision and transportation.
We are pleased to continue to offer students supervision and transportation to the STMA Middle
Schools so that they may participate in afterschool activities. Again this year there is a $25.00 per season fee that will help cover our supervision cost. This fee will need to be submitted with your registration form in order for your child to start using this service. Please fill out the form linked below at least 3 school days before service is requested. (example: Form is turned in on a Thursday, students may start riding the bus Tuesday of the following week.).
Supervision and Transportation Form
Additional Middle School sports Information can also be found on the Middle Level Website. Questions about this service may be directed to [email protected] or [email protected].
Additional Supervision and Transportation Information
A new form/fee is needed for each activity/season, it is valid for one activity only.
SCHEDULE
After several variations of what the supervised time has looked like in the past, we are creating a space that will be dedicated to homework. Students utilizing this service will follow the schedule outline below:
1:50 – 2:00 Check In
2:00 – 2:15 Snack / Opportunity to change clothes for practice
2:15 – 2:47 Supervised Study Hall
2:47 – 2:50 Pack Up / Dismissed to Buses
As indicated in the schedule, the supervised time is designed as a structured study hall, not a free choice time. If students do not have homework, they may draw or read quietly during this time. With the exception of computers for those completing homework online, no electronics will be allowed. Staff supervising are not responsible for checking homework, making sure homework is complete, or working one on one with students. Staff will do their best to help answer homework questions students may have. Students will not be scheduled to go outside or to the gym during this brief time.
BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Supervision and transportation is a privilege; students are not required to stay after school. Behavior expectations from 1:55-until the start of practice at their assigned location are the same as during the school day. If a student does not follow our rules of being safe, welcoming, and respectful, or the rules of the partner school, they are subject to the following consequences:
First Offense: Email to parent/guardian
Second Offense: Phone call to parent/guardian and loss of supervision/transportation for the following practice/game day
Third Offense: Suspended from supervision/transportation for 2 weeks or until the end of the season, whichever is longer. Two week suspension would carry over into the next activity, if applicable. (The student would be welcome to sign up for transportation/supervision the following season, but a parent meeting with the School Programs Director would be required before the start of that season.)
Important Information for Middle Level Sports
Online registration for fall sports has begun. You will want to be registered at least three days before your child’s sport begins. Please register on the website of the STMA middle school your child would attend if not attending the Catholic school. Out of district families, please contact the Activity Director to find out which school you should register with. If you are interested in any of the programs that are run by the High School you can contact the High School Activities office for more information.

WEST: https://mw.stma.k12.mn.us/athletics-activites/athletics
Registration:
If you have problems registering please contact STMA middle school, as StMCS doesn’t have anything to do with the registration process. Something to note is that your child does need to have a valid sports physical on file with the middle schools. Physicals may be turned into the activity director at the Middle School your child will be participating through.
Here are general directions for how to register:
Registration for middle school can be found at stma.k12.mn.us. Select the button that says Schools for a drop down menu of the schools in the district and select the school your student would attend if attending in the district, either Middle School East or Middle School West. On the middle school home page, in the blue bar across the top, select Activities -> Home. On this page scroll down until you find Registration. Under Registration you will find the link for Affinity along with links to instructions for Affinity Registration and how to add a funding source. If you have been in the school district, your student should be in the system and you should be able to register. If you live out of district or are new, your student may not be in the system. If you have problems with registering or have questions, contact the STMA Tech Department Help Desk at 763-497-6500 x4357 or [email protected]. They will be able to help get your student set up with an account so you can register.
